So my question is "Should we engage preemptively against brutal dictatorships in the hopes of increasing our national security and hopefully securing the blessings of liberty to the oppressed?"

My initial take is yes. This is good and righteous and if successful will change the world for the better.

Hi TJ,

thought I would peek my head through the door of the pub. It seems a very welcoming place, with a great range of beers and some congenial company. So here's my first post at the pub.

Yes I think something should be done about Iraq - however, it does seem as if Bush sees this as a precursor to a doctrine of pre-emption. This will involve the US in some ruinously expensive wars, which will ultimately force up yur taxes debauch your currency and lead to the ultimate demise of the USA - a quick galnce through history confirms that when the pre-eminent power of any era starts embarking on expensive foreign wars that is the bell that tolls to mark the end of that state's dominance. This would be a shame, because I, unlike the majority of world opinion, believe that the USA is genuinely a force for good in the world.
