So the detergent manufacturer puts clay fillers into the powdered soaps. Clay is a silica makeup.. silica is sharp and jagged; groud up glass if you will. Think what groud up glass does to your clothes rubbing around in the wahser..

If you are a chemist, I'm surprised you can say something like this with a straight face. If this is the sort of bogus information that your upline is feeding you, you should either run away as fast as you can or collapse on the floor laughing hysterically. To say it's pure BS is putting it mildly.

Although this is geology not chemistry, you should have no problem with today's homework assignment: compare and contrast kaolinite (AL2Si2O5(OH)4) with glass (SiO2). Be sure to include all relevant information: hardness, cleavability, bond strength, crystal size, etc.

Here's a hint: take some baby powder and rub it between your fingers. Describe how it feels. Do the same with some sand. The difference will be quite apparent.
