So this guy is doing ent procedures in an private outpatient surgery center. What's he doing, nose jobs?

Obviously they are not complicated risky procedures that require back up like a blood bank or post op recovery. I am guessing he does not have lab and xray on site. An ICU? Not having those are all significant cost savings. And if he gets a problem, where does he send it? Oh yeah, the ER.

He does not have to satisfy JCAH accreditation for quality either. You do want your hospital to meet certain critical standards don't you? Or would you go to Angie's list and let the free market tell you which are the good hospitals.

There is so much wrong with this guy's approach which is basically, "what is my turnaround time and how many cases can I flip to maximize $".

Got news for you, outpatient surgery centers are not new, but they are definitely not hospitals.
