So unless someone pulls the "Jane you ignorant $1ut" line out early...I expect a smaller crowd for the last word.

I don't. I'd much rather have the last word. Remember, it's not just the debates themselves, it's how they're rebroadcast on the news over and over when the debates are done.

Jim LARRAR will no doubt open up with a softball question that is phrased to look tough and hard hitting, something that Obama can play the Blame Bush card with.

Like this: "Mr. President, you said, and I quote, 'If I can't get this thing fixed, we're looking at a one term proposition'. With unemployment hovering around 8% and GDP growth low, would you say you've gotten this thing fixed?"

This is a weak question because it doesn't get into any of Obama's specific actions he took to "get this thing fixed". It allows him to easily pivot into "Well, this thing was just horrible when we took office, credit meltdown, 750 million jobs lost a month, and as even President Clinton said, it would have been almost impossible to get it completely fixed. So we're on the right track. But the last thing we want to do is go back to the policies that got us into this mess in the first place."

That lets Obama put Romney on the defensive right from the get-go and makes Lehrer look like he asked a tough question. Problem is, it's all bullcrap.
