So you are saying King is dead.

That makes me sad.

But it's probably true.

But I refuse to believe it (as I perk up!).

Stephen King was never about the money but always about the story. The telling of the story. I will always believe that. Someone about the money could never have written The Stand or IT after the commercial successes of Carrie or The Shining. So I will always believe Stephen King is a writer wanting to tell a story.

However, in recent (10 years) I think Stephen King may have run out of story. Maybe. I don't know - I don't know the man - but I think that Stephen King may have been a victim of "what the public wanted" vs "what he wanted to write". And they don't always coincide.

That's what I'm finding with Lisey's Story. I think maybe he wrote the story he wanted to and not the story the public wanted. "The Cell" is something the public wanted ... and it was incomplete... good story, but incomplete. Lisey's Story is the story he wanted to tell I think. And I loved it.
