Oh and trepanne..are you by any means a linux tech person? Or know someone who is? On another linux financial angle, not taxes generally but Soc Sec, I see they have a C++ program for Mac and Windows but not for linux at

http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/anypia/anypia.html (scrolling down to "Links to detailed calculator" section has "# Source code (in the C++ computer language)

used to create the Detailed Calculator " now if I knew more linux I could actually answer my own question, but can this be turned into a file for ubuntu linux and do you know how to do that or if it's already been done? I actually emailed SSA a year ago and they said, they had to create separate U/I for the Win and Mac versions and they'd have to do that for every single sepratre linux version if they tried to do it for linux/unix ...so I guess one with decent U/I isn't as simple as "paste the C++ code into file.cc and run a compiler and you're done" or he would have said so...

But as IRS gives out the full C++ code maybe someone's already created a file that downloads and self/auto-installs on one's linux/ubuntu, anyone know?
TIA
