Pixy is right about the 6.2 percent deduction for Social Security -- if you work for someone else--. My wife, who is self-employed as a real estate agent, pays the "full shot", with some marginal rates that make me wonder if it's worth it for her to work at all. Remember, some people's employers are "themselves".
