Thought you might be interested in the results of the PV Grid tie systems we have installed here in Southern Utah. We installed a 12 KW three phase 120/208 volt system at the new Great Basin National Park Visiors Center and since the installation the power bills have dropped from $2500.00 a month to less than $100.00 a month. I'm betting this month the bill will be a negative number. We also installed a residential 3KW Single Phase 120/240 volt system on a 3500 square foot home here in St. George back in March. The first couple of months were disappointing because the power company had not installed the correct type of metering, so it wasn't reading the KWH that was pushed back out onto the grid. They finally got the correct metering installed on May 3 and to date this month the meter shows a surplus of 155 KWH has been produced and pushed out onto the grid. Both these results are surprising as we didn't expect to see any surplus being generated with the size of the load and the size of PV system installed. I now can see that the figures I've been using to estimate pay back and net metering costs are way to conservative. I'll continue to moniter the systems and next month start modifiying my projections to better match the real world.Quite exciting though, and both customers are very happy with their systems.ES
