My son in law got a transfer to my mom's town, so he, DD#1 and the kids will be moving in a couple of weeks. Mom is over the moon that she will have her great-grands to spoil, and DD#1 is excited to be living in a larger town with better job opportunities, and being able to see her "Nana" pretty much anytime. She's also excited about being able to cook for someone who actually appreciates the effort.
Short term plan is for them to stay with Mom for a few weeks while they get the living arrangements sorted out. DD#1 is hoping that they'll be in the same school district Mom lives in so DGD#2 can ride the school bus ot Mom's after school. They are hopeful that they will be able to rent the house next to Mom, but that will only work if the owner decides to rent it instead of an outright sell. If she sells, then Mom would have the only residential property in the area.
Son in law was a bit torn while talking to DD#1 the other night. He asked what his mother would think of him leaving his dad alone? DD#1 asked him what would she say if she knew his dad abandoned him after his mom's death and let him and his brother become wards of the state instead of sobering up and getting his act together? He asked about the job transfer the next morning and it was approved.
