So I got an email from UHC today acknowledging my policy termination as of 10/31. Since my Medicare coverage doesn't start until 11/1, I'm glad this year's extra day for leap year was 2/29 and not 10/32.

I also got an email from the Costa Rica teaching coordinator informing me that my winter assignment is the second half of February, a week in each of two towns. One of them is where I put in a week this past winter and have been there several other times. The other I've only been to once, back in 2008. Both are nice. I asked not to get the ugly capital or the roasting hot Pacific coastal province and I was accommodated.

I got tickets to go hear the talk given by Anna the Audiologist's father, the world's top expert on apples.

Tomorrow I'll try again to get my car smog-checked. And go over to Portland State to register as a senior citizen so I can take free classes starting in Winter quarter. Another friend named Anna, the one who ran the Habitat committee I served on, quit Habitat to do graduate work at Portland State and I'm going to see if I can meet up with her at one of PSU's gourmet dining cafeterias. Unfortunately she's studying urban planning and will probably end up forcing me and everyone I know out of our homes and into high-rises.

OK, time to do a little reading and watch Red Eye. It's on at midnight here. You'll have to record it if you want to see it at a reasonable hour. But it might not be worth it, since it's usually not very good. Sometimes the right combination of guests makes for a good show but that doesn't happen too often. Friggin' Fox News.
