Unions have actually been on the decline, and as of 2011 they made up approximately 12% of the workforce (roughly 15 million union members).

Public Sector unions have more members than private sector unions. Local government is the largest part of that - police, firefighters, and teachers.

Unions are most populated by older workers (55-64) and least populated by younger workers (16-24). The median salary of union workers is about 20% higher than the median salary of non-union workers.

It's probably no surprise that unions are most populated and influential in states like California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, and it's probably safe to say that unions support the Democrat Party.

So, IMO, whether or not you think unions are destructive, it is actually a situation where they are unchecked. The fact that unions and the Democrat party are in lock-step is not going to change and they enjoy the benefits of this. However, there is nothing on the other side of the ledger. The Republicans do not have a 15 million person army to demonstrate, agitate, donate, intimidate, organize, get out the vote, etc. There is no old, rich guy group, or white guy group, or managers group to counter unions on a large scale.

This is the partner with the media bias. More often than not, when there is any union involvement, what we see/hear is how they are protecting some poor, abused, oppressed group. This is also an unequal ledger. While the there may have 1 TV network and a few radio talk shows that lean Right, there is no contest with those that lean Left.

So all we need is for somebody to get about 15 million of their closest friends and form a Right leaning group to counter unions. Then find a way to get control of at least one of the lame stream media outlets. Can I get this for Christmas !!!!!
