Some years back I made an ill-advised attempt to make a lot of money fast by "investing" in the futures market. I lost a bunch of money and wondered, like you, what to do with all those capital losses for tax purposes.
Fortunately, I ended the relationship with my "commodities advisor" and went back to investing in stocks.
It took 6 years in the '90s to use up those losses. Now I'm back to paying taxes on my capital gains...
