Sure, working for yourself can mean irregular income, periods of feast or famine, work intruding on your personal life, and a lot of scrambling for business. It takes a particular kind of personality to deal with that & it's not for everyone. Clearly it wouldn't be for you. BUT - it may be for your wife. She may have the temperament to deal with that.

Just saying...it's an option.
