Something similar happened to us too. In May, our fixed rate of 9.9% was raised, without notice, to 16.9%. We immediately called them - they claimed they sent us a notice, which of course we never received. They then tried to pull some crap about late payments. No go! We bullied them back into lowering our rate to 9.9%, which is what it had been for the past few years. I always check my statement, and they did lower the rate.

On our June statement, there was a $59.95 charge to something called Leisure Advantage (I think), that also had an 800# printed next to it. Well, neither my husband or I had ever heard of this - so I called it, interrupted the salesman's spiel about how I authorized this by cashing some check !! and told him to credit my account immediately, lest they see some legal action. Amazingly the credit did show up on our July statement.

This weekend, we received a letter from some Life Insurance company out of Florida saying we had enrolled in their plan and our First USA credit card would be billed monthly. Huh?!?!? Again, having never heard of such an animal, we immediately called first the Life Insurance company, was given some crap but once again got them to remove our names from their list, then called First USA because they had sold our names, and our card number, to this company. Of course they claim we authorized this, blah blah blah, and had been sent an entire packet. But we had never heard of that particular organization before. I can't wait to see what is on next month's statement.
