Sometimes politics is about the personal. Don't usually spend that much time thinking about foreign leaders--either positively or negatively--but always liked Thatcher after hearing this story from my sister-in-law.She's a William & Mary grad and it's always been on her bucket list to meet Thatcher ever since the former prime minister had an honorary leadership position at the college.A couple of years after graduation she spent six months over in England on some type of foreign study program. She quickly heard that Thatcher, when health permitted, attended Sunday services at a nearby church. Unfortunately, by that time she had had her first stroke and didn't get out as much. One Sunday, she was there. Surrounded by security. My sister-in-law, not to be denied, went over after services ended and explained the William & Mary connection to the guards. They seemed skeptical but Thatcher heard the conversation and summoned her over. They then spent at least five minutes reminiscing about the school.Classy lady.
