Today my 12 year old son's portfolio will close above $100,000.00. He is not aware that he has this much. All he knows is that he has a college fund. I have been investing for him for about 7 years. Our original investment was around $25,000.00 and we stopped adding money to his account. His 2 year old brother has an account around $9000 with just a couple thousand invested since birth. I want to thank the Fools for making this possible. This sight has been invaluable to our investment plans. I also own all of their books. My son's portfolio consist of, just to name a few,
100 shs. CSCO, 100 shs. SUNW, 100 shs. WMT, 100 shs. DIS, 200 shs. AOL, 100 shs. PFE & 100 shs. of INTC. I tell this because I want others to know that its possible with patience and by educating yourself and staying focused. When I called my husband at work to tell him the news, he said once it hits 100K we should sell everything. I said no way. We're in for the ride. I'm not worried about a correction. I keep a copy of the Jan. 1996 issue of MONEY magazine next to my computer. You know the one that profiled Anne Scheiber. The lady who turned 5K into $22 MILLION! I'm also not worried about my son getting the money eventually because we are teaching him the value of an education and how he needs to be responsible with money. Thanks so much Motley Fools!
