Jinxy, that may be what you mean, but it sure sounds that way to me when you talk about "my retirement" versus "his retirement." If you marry and merge finances, the discussion should IMO be about "our retirement" and not "my retirement" and "his retirement."

I wish you all the best with your impending marriage (which I forgot to do in my first post. sorry) and I do hope that you search out those other discussions because they were good discussions and it really can be different for each couple.
