Sorry, no can do. Your account has a fixed rate. I can, however, transfer you to apply for a new account. If approved, you transfer the balance to the new card.I had a similar experience. Here's how the call went:Them: Want a Discover card?Me: I already have one, and I'm mad at you, because you jacked my rate up for absolutely no reason two months ago!!Them: Well, if you open a new card, I'll transfer the balance for you to the new card.Me: No, you won't. You can't. It states in your cardmember and BT agreements that BT's are not valid between Discover accounts. Consequently, you can't transfer my balance to a new Discover card with the new rate.Them: REALLY? Let me check with my manager...<hold music>Them: You know, you're right! I'm not allowed to do that! But I'll transfer you over to someone to negotiate your rate. Please hold...----I don't know how much autonomy they give to the staff on the phones, but every BT offer I've read states that you can't transfer from an account with the same company. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!Oh, I got the better rate back, too. I guess I was lucky. ~~b
