Sorry...accidentally hit "submit message" too soon. The claim of Christianity is exactly the opposite of "if you don't show your devotion to this particular set of ideas about God in this particular way, you won't have a pleasant afterlife."Christianity acknowledges that no one can show sufficient or perfect devotion to any particular set of ideas about god in this particular way. That's the problem. Everyone who ever lived has failed to show devotion to any particular set of ideas (etc.).The main premise of Christianity is grace. All other religions, without exception, have as their main premise "works"--that is, showing your devotion to a set of ideas about god in a particular way. This is why C. S. Lewis titled his book "'Mere' Christianity." I bet you'd enjoy the read.http://usminc.org/images/MereChristianitybyCSLewis.pdf
