Sort of. My Dad was an FS (Farm Supply) truck driver/salesman. Mom would answer the phone and take orders for things like fuel oil, gas, kerosene and such while Dad was making deliveries at the farms. Later on, Dad put in a gas pump behind the garage and she'd pump gas for the occasional customer who was filling his pickup truck.

She didn't work for wages, but it sure helped Dad out, long before there were home answering machines.
