Speaking of Italian varietals, I attended the Annual Meeting last October. As part of the day's events, we were able to choose a Mondavi tour. I chose to tour their La Famiglia vinyard, newly devoted to Italian varietals. They reconverted their former Vichon vinyard for this purpose.

I am a native N. Californian, have relatives in the Napa Valley, and visit the area frequently. Please pass on to your friend that a visit to the La Famiglia vinyard and tasting room is a must. It sits on a hill looking down on the Napa Valley, with a breathtaking, million dollar view. I compare it with looking down the Yosemite Valley, or viewing SF at night from the Marin Headlands. When I visited, several artists were there, painting the scene.

Not being an expert, I won't comment on the wines except to say that I liked them. As a shareholder, I'm pleased to see yet another example of Mondavi's commitment to remain on the cutting edge. Hope this helps.
