spikie: He did engage Harris from 60 yards with a handgun and did delay him. That saved lives (time = lives if you don't understand what I mean).

The shooters apparently had several places in mind; the library, the cafeteria.

The quick encounter with the first cop didn't stop them from reaching the library. The cops outside didn't stop them.

I don;t know what you expect an armed school employee to do that the cop wouldn't do. There were plenty of access points at which a hero could enter that building.... but they didn't.

I was talking with some college kids this weekend and they feel that allowing college students and teachers to pack is utter insanity.... that there is enough risk without arming a bunch of emotional, unstable students and teachers.
