Please bear with me if this question has been answered before. I could not find an answer. Here is the situation. We have LT capital on the sale of a rental, sale of stocks, and dividends. We have no significant ST gains. I am planning to sell some stocks in the next week or so, which are loosing money. I can choose (dependng when I sell, they become LT on 11/23) to get a LT or ST loss. Given the capital gains that we have already realized, is it better to take a ST or a LT loss. Please explain the reasons. Thanks on advance.Irma
