Family Dollar 2Q EPS 60 Cents Vs EPS 35 Cents

Family Dollar Stores Inc. (FDO) said Thursday second-quarter net income for the three months ended March 3 nearly doubled to $90.5 million, or 60 cents a share, from $54.5 million, or 35 cents a share in the year-ago period.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call forecast earnings of 60 cents a share, on average.

Revenue at the Matthews, N.C. retailer grew 12% to $1.947 billion.

The company expects earnings between $1.63 and $1.69 a share in 2007.
