TFMMAX referred me to TMFPIXY from 401K Strategy Board.
I have stock in a 401K as well as other funds. Rule is that I have to roll over entire 401K into an IRA. How do I roll over only stock portion which has long term capital gains. Value of stock is now $100K. Cost basis is 50K. Rest is LTCG. TFMMAX mentioned a "conduit" IRA for the stock which I think is suppose to defer all taxes and yet conserve the long term CG until I sell the stock. Others state that once stock is in an IRA withdrawing and selling incurs regular tax rate (no 20%). I am not sure of the rules.
