Now that Stocks 2008 has been released, I thought it might be interesting to see how teh 2007 picks did. The official price inception date was 11/8/06 so we'll calculate to 11/7/07.

Start End Change

ANF 72.57 72.62 0%

BAK 15.42 17.78 15.3%

CNC 24.03 22.13 -8.0%

CHS 22.04 12.22 -44.5%

CVH 45.96 57.23 24.5%

FCFS 21.84 16.68 -23.6%

IBM 92.59 111.08 20%

LOGI 26.40 35.52 34.5%

MCHX 13.22 10.73 -18.8%

PAYX 39.31 39.76 1.1%

PHM 28.94 12.81 -55.7%

S 19.89 16.57 -16.7%

OAKLX 36.63 30.78 -16.0%

URBN 19.00 24.81 30.6%

Total equal-weighted average return = -4.1% vs the S&P 500's +6.5%.

To be fair, this was a fairly volatile time and most (though not all) of these stocks could be sold for gains at some point during the year or bought lower that the start price, etc., which makes the point that defined time frames when used for promotional purposes can be quite misleading to the positive or the negative.
