Studies show that two hours after fat intake (probably in the neighborhood of 30% of total calories ingested) there is a measureable (=dramatic) reduction in blood flow thru the brachial artery
It is no fantasy that my blood pressure and bad cholesterol count are considerably down after a few months of carb depetion. So how does one explain test results such as these? Could it be that perhaps people who eat lots of fat often eat lots of carbohydrates? It was that way for me. I can't speak for anyone else, but for myself I feel more relaxed, more energetic and much more rested in the morning. I eat cheese, heavy cream, bacon, red meat, some nuts and olive oil. I eat them in moderation because my appetite is greatly reduced since I began depleting carbs!<b/>
Why is it that as Americans have greatly reduced the amount of dietary fat they eat, they have become much more obese, heart disease and cancer rates have skyrocketed, and high blood pressure has become epidemic? Could it be that dietary fat alone plays an infinitesimal part in these diseases? I'm no doctor, but I believe sugar, usually the first or second ingredient in most processed low-fat foods, is the bigger culprit. It is the main carbohydrate I have cut out of my diet, followed by white flour. I don't worry about calories or fat too much. I don't gorge myself on fat, either. You won't lose on any diet if you do that.
I'm a newbie here and I'm not trying to make enemies. But I'm tired of the so called experts doing my thinking for me. That's what attracted me to the Motley Fool in the first place. I was tired of Brokers telling me I had to buy their high load mutual funds if I were to be a sucessful investor. I was too stupid and naive to sucessfully invest on my own. I didn't believe that and I don't think I should blindly believe studies that don't consider all of the facts or that are one sided, as many seem to be.
