I am not sure if this is the board for this, but here goes. We had a subcontractor working for us in 2012. All of his work was done in Florida, where we are located. He left and moved to California before the end of the year 2012. So, in early 2013, we sent his 1099-MISC to his California mailing address. Now, he has contacted us and asked for a new 1099-MISC to be mailed to him, that shows his Florida address at the time, because the State of California has state income tax and they want to tax him for this pay, which was really earned by him in Florida. I have now gone back in my files and re-done the 1099-MISC, to show his Florida address he was living at during the time he earned the money. He has now asked me if I will notify the Federal government regarding this or if he needs to notify them, or what he needs to do.

The amount of pay is a little over $40K. My filings as a corporation would not change, because the pay totals are the same for MY taxes, just his address on the 1099 is different. So, do I just send him the corrected form, and he deals with it, or is there something I would need to do to file an amended summary form to the government? Thanks for any thoughts.
