sunrayman,

Hospice is a good thing. It's a lot better than putting a person through extraordinary procedures that don't really do more than delay the inevitable.

My FIL suffered through the "extraordinary efforts" with several surgeries. His systems were shutting down and MDH and I didn't have the experience to understand what was happening. HE died after the last surgery, which was totally unnecessary.

My MIL went into hospice twice, the last at the end of March, and experienced a very peaceful passing. She went to sleep a couple of weeks before she died and never woke up again.

My mother has told both my brother and myself that she doesn't want unusual efforts to keep her among the living. (This was after my father passed away in '93.)

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
