Sure. Commercial real estate is a buy, hold, sell, trade business just like stocks. But it goes to a different economic cycle and was thought to be a regional business until '08. It does have some tax advantages. And can be very long term profitable if you buy/build/invest in the right property, at the right time, in the right place. Individuals do that through REITs, but then you have to pay the middle men. Insurance companies go direct with their own staff.
