Reading the thread on peach salsa tickled my brain on other hot, sweet foods. The first time I ran across a hot & sweet sauce was at a restaurant that deep-fried lightly battered green beans. They were served with a sweet/spicy/vinegary sauce. It was exquisite. The green beans were just a way to get that wonderful sauce into my mouth.
Then I found Sun Zen's Sweet Red Pepper Sauce on the grocery shelves! It's wonderful as a dipping sauce for things like crab rangoon. And it's a great shortcut for making:
Ground Pork with Green beans
1 pound ground pork 1 pound fresh green beans Sweet Red Pepper Sauce Cooked Rice
Wash and cut up the green beans. Stir fry the ground pork, breaking it into small pieces while browning it. Add the green beans and fry for a minute or two. Add a little water, cover and let steam for a few minutes. (Length depends upon the size and age of the beans and how done you like the beans.) Add enough sauce to coat everything and serve over the steaming rice.
Yum!
