I have finally had enough to take a risk and put myself out there. This last email from the Republican who is supposed to represent my area was the last straw.

I wrote:

"I am someone who took pride in demonstrating bipartisanship by voting for you up until now. I thought that you were one of the more reasonable voices in a party that was growing increasingly more extreme and reactionary. This message convinces me that either I was wrong, or you have gone off the deep end into Tea-Whiner land. After the Republican Recession that nearly turned into a Depression, then last year's Tea-Party do-nothing Congress, being a Conservative is no longer the badge of honor you think it is (The constant turmoil was great for stock trading, though!).

We balanced the state budget without increasing taxes Then why is there a $27 billion shortfall?

We passed a photo voter identification requirement (in which I played a major role) that wasn't needed at all.

We protected our homeowner and gun owner rights The right to kill their families and ex-wives with guns?

We strengthened laws protecting the sanctity of life at the expense of the rights of the woman to her own body!

We protected consumers from abusive lending practices Good Job!

We fought back against an over-reaching federal government What does that even mean? The Federal Government is doing exactly what the majority elected it to do, over the dysfunctional far-right sore losers.

One of my goals in running is to play an active role in helping Republicans defeat President Obama. He is doing a great job of cleaning up Bush's mess and has been voted by historians as one of the better Presidents; remarkable considering the shambles he started with.

The Texas economy is in better fiscal shape than most of the other 49 states, in part, due to the sound policies of the Texas Legislature, in which I have played a positive role in promoting low taxes and a predictable and reasonable regulatory environment where private business may thrive. If you mean that we lead the nation in rapid growth of debt, minimum wage jobs, unsafe working conditions, and lack of health care, then by all means take cradit. People move here for defense industry (EVIL Feds), military (EVIL Feds), and energy jobs (You put the oil and gas in the ground?); cheap land, and sun. They don't move here to be represented by Facists. People laughed Rick Perry off the stage when he bragged about his Texas jobs miracle on the campaign trail.

Not only will I not vote for you, but I will campaigning for your opponent. Enough is enough. You may or may not be gratified to know that you may well be the last Republican I ever voted for."

Thank you to all PA'ers who have motivated me to take action at long last. You know who you are. I looked up my local Democratic club and found that my precinct has no chairperson. I may not be good at the job, but I'm going to try and make a difference.
