I don't know if I am in the right spot for this question. If not can some one steer me in the right direction.
Is there any tax credit or advantage for purchasing a hybrid vehicle in 2012?

Sorry, you're a couple of years late to the party. Those credits were only for vehicles purchased on or before 12/31/2010, according to this link on the IRS website http://www.irs.gov/uac/Summary-of-the-Credit-for-Qualified-H...

Even though a manufacturer has certified a vehicle, a taxpayer must meet the following requirements to qualify for the credit:

1. The vehicle must be placed in service after 12-31-05 and purchased on or before 12-31-10.

Federal tax credits have expired for regular hybrids, but there are credits for plug-in hybrids.

Your state might still offer tax credits for hybrids, plug-ins or home infrastructure related to
supporting new fuel vehicles.
