I have an AMEX blue rewards card that pays me cash back. I have been told that the cash back is considered income. I do not think that is correct as you have already paid taxes on this money and the return of a portion of expense should not be considered taxable. I think. However, the question did get me thinking about double dipping. I use this card for business travel and expenses. And the amount that I churn through the card for these items can be considerable ~5-6 a month. As a result ~$1000 of my cash back is for expenses that my employer has FULLY reimbursed me for.Is this amount taxable?
