One of my next-door neighbors is an 82 year old widow. I used to think I wanted to retire in a community of folks my age and talk about how the first half of the boomer generation ruined life for us second halfers and now were spending up all our Social Security. Since I have lived in this house (almost 4 years), my neighbor has convinced me that life is much better if you stay in a 'normal' neighborhood and around friends and younger folks. She stays very active and I think she has helped me with retirement plans by making me think.
