I live in termnite country, Raleigh NC.Exactly a year ago, I had termites in the house. Called the termite control service which I have under the standard annual contract. They came, they saw, they sprayed and went away. Last week, exactly a year later, I got a infestation again. Wings and dead termites in a corner of the living room.Called the termite control. They show up and tell me that they can take care of that under the contract *BUT*, what I really need is the super-duper booster treatment that, of course, is not covered under the contract. The story I got is that the builder did a strong initial treatment in 1997 and that it fades away and 8 years later, I need a "booster". $500, what the heck, I went for it.Later, I started wondering. Did I get taken to the cleaners by a slick pest technician/salesman? Did I just buy a service that I don't really need?If the standard annual contract guarantees that they take care of any termite issues, why do I need the super-duper treatment that is not covered? Is this standard practice in this industry to try and scare homeowners and upsell them stuff they don't need? Thanks, in advance.
