Thank you Bill and Pixy:
I see now that there is no way to avoid the Minimum Distributions, since we are the owners of the Corp. All we can do is try to save and live the best we can, at this point.
Whether 401K or SEP-IRA or IRA, it all turns out the same.
Moral of this story: Start saving and socking away all the money you possibly can before you reach this Min Dist age; or...keep on working for the rest of your life. Or both. Because, if you are lucky, you will live a long time, and eventually there will come a time when you will need some form of assisted living, e.g. nursing home, medical treatments, live-in nurse. Your kids won't take care of you, depend on that. We have four and 8 grandchildren, and they are all very busy with their own lives, and although they love us and care about us, they would not, (as in former days) take their parents into their home and care for us, if we needed it. I hope I'm wrong, but I believe I'm right. And we understand that; it is part of today's world...
We made lots of money, and saved too little of it, and found that 20 years pass very quickly once your 40's are over. Please learn from us, and listen to the Fools on this site. It's true...tempus fugit when your back is turned.
Sock it away, Fellow Fools, and max out your contributions, or you will be very shocked one day....Good luck,
Cress
