Thank you for the insight. I was thinking of doing one or two of these strategies to start (as I learn)

1) "Index plus a few" - 60% of monthly deposit into an index and 40% into 1 or 2 stocks of my choice

2) Dividend stocks

3) Drips

My wife and I get annual bonuses in our positions too that we just move into savings. So in the future we can take significant chunks of those bonuses and invest into the stock market as I learn more.
