Thank you for your responses. I may have her give us the extra $1000 next year, or I may just suck it up and pay the taxes on it. That depends on what she wants to do. After all, the giver of the gift gets to decide and paying taxes on $1000 isn't that big of a deal to me. I certainly am not interested in doing something shady to try to hide it.Although, why can't I make my 7 month old pay for housing? That's what's wrong with kids these days. They want everything without having to work for it. When I was 7 months old I was already working a full time job and giving it all to my deserving mother.DEG
