I'd like to post a message of thanks for the Motley Fool (and all of you who make up these boards).

I was laid off yesterday along with 25% of my company in yet another dot-com cost-saving measure.

A year ago, this would have been a personal tragedy. Thanks to everything I've learned from the Fool, it's an opportunity. Thanks to this board, the LBYM board, and the budgeting board, I have an emergency fund and I know how long it plus my 2 week's severance will last -- about 3 months, several times longer than I expect it to take me to find another job.

I'm of course let down at being let go, and I'm rather disappointed at what it does to my lanticipated zero-debt day. But I've got time to look for a job, and no need to agonize about where the living expenses will come from in the meantime.

thanks, guys!
