Thank you, Seattle Pioneer. Thanks for the advice to be cautious about moving the debt around until after the claim is accepted for payment.

I accepted liability for this debt by accident. I was the first employee hired by the 3 founders - friends of mine. I have considerable responsibility here, and was involved in setting up the credit cards. We have several other company credit cards that the company is responsible for, even if employees are cardholders. I guess we thought that this particular card was the same way - that the company is responsible, not the employee card holder. I didn't read the fine print, and not I'm realizing the consequences.

It wasn't a reimbursable expense type of situation - and we didn't think I was carrying this debt personally. The company received the bill and paid it. I had nothing to do with it. The company name is even on the credit card.

As I have said, I have learned a very expensive lesson.
