Thank you to all who responded to my post on my Cobra coverage problem. As a couple posters advised, I called the 800 number today for my insurance company. (BC/BS)I explained my problem and my concern and they told me that a permanent record would be kept of my call but that I was not in danger of losing my eligiblity for cobra coverage. My company self insures and BC/BS is only the administrator of the coverage. The rep I spoke to called my company's insurance department while I waited on the phone then advised me that the company reps would have to straighten out my problem but still insisted I had nothing to worry about.Less than five minutes after I hung up, I received a call from the head of health benefits who told me that my 60 day period did not even start until the company presented to me an election form to determine if I desired cobra coverage. For those who wonder why I did not just go to my HR department in person, My company is in retail and the headquarters is over 200 miles away.Anyway, this lady was very nice and assured me that I would not lose my eligibility and said they had mailed an election notice yesterday and that I should receive it tomorrow. We agreed that I would send that back immediately along with a check for the first two months coverage, ( $320 per month) :o(If I do not receive this letter tomorrow, I intend to send a letter explaining my intentions and the two month check and send it certified mail, return receipt requested.I will keep those interested posted on my progress. Thanks again,GLSHEFF
