Thank you to everyone for your suggestions.Several of you have asked what we'd do with a HTPC, but let me first say that building it is driven less by need than by the urge to tinker. Up to now that's been satisfied by building/upgrading desktops for us, but DW and I are now fully on laptops so that opportunity has disappeared. As for what I see us doing with it:- Store/manage/play MP3s ripped from over 200 CDs we have.- Store/manage/play photos- Store/manage/play Podcasts in iTunes- Store/manage/play YouTube videos- Provide all the above to other (Win) PCs on the network- Browse and display (with full a/v) webpages Our BR player (Samsung BD-P2550) handles BR/DVD/CD playing as well as Netflix and Pandora. Integrating some/all of those into the HTPC without sacrificing quality would be nice but not necessary. Our receiver is an Onkyo TX-SR608 and the TV is a Sony Bravia KDL-55ex711. The HTPC would go to the Onkyo via HDMI. We currently have ATT Uverse, however that might change in the future as their prices continue to climb. I don't anticipate using the HTPC as a PVR, but that might e an option in the future. (That'd be more likely if a card for our provider were used instead of relying on the provider's box a la Tivo.)BG
