Thank you very much for the valuable information.

As I indicated, my wife like larger cites such as New York, whereas I prefer outdoorsy places like Boulder. Central New York sounds like it would be a great compromise area, if not for the cold winters. There is probably no getting around that for her, though I love all four seasons. We have apple-picking here in the Illinois suburbs near STL, and we know all about sailing from seeing the ocean on TV <grin>. We'll definately come up for a visit if we land in the East.
