Do I have the reinvested dividends holding period correct then insofar as your dollar cost averaged investments and reinv. divs function as a kind of string (metaphor), the lot of which pull backward (or forward) after each FIFO sale. So then the second lot, including if it were "simply" reinvested purchased shares becomes the next in line to go, right?

What can you make of the below direct quote from Fairmark, though, in figuring a "split holding period." What date exactly of a holding period would the 37/100th fall on?

"It's possible you will end up holding a fractional share that has a split holding period. For example, the plan may credit your account with 8.22 shares for the March dividend, and 7.15 shares for the June dividend. You would then own 8 shares with a holding period beginning in March, 7 shares with a holding period beginning in June, and a fractional share (37/100 of a share) with a holding period that is split between those two dates."
