Thanks everyone for the input requested. Especially to MDGrabhorn who kindly and obviously took a lot of time to respond to my question. You were 'right on' with the assumptions MD. I should mention to you that I am eligible for the medical benefits because of my age and service time in either retirement package. Also the Cash Balance is accruing monthly interest and as Cash Balance go is one of the 'better' ones? I guess my reason for leaning toward the Cash Balance cashout is because that my survivors will have full access to whatever we can generate for growth/equity in the outside world.
jrr7 mentioned the possibility of a severance package. It appears that also may be offered this year and thus an additional 'enhancement' to be applied to both packages that I currently, because of my service time, can choose between. (Cash Balance or regular Pension annuity). I did as you suggested jrr7 and reposted this to the "Retirement Investing" forum also.
Thanks Pixy for the tip you sent along. Very informative and useful as you said it would be.
Now to figure out what I need to live on (including mortgage!) until 59 1/2!!!!

Thanks all. No need to reply here again...I'll check the Retirement Investing Forum.
