Thanks for all of the replies. I've been sitting here reading the site for about a year. In the time that I've learned stuff here, I opened an account an ING and put money into the savings account, as well as some CD's within my ING account. I've read the "Coffeehouse Investor" and would like to invest in Vanguard index funds, for that reason I figured I would open an account with them to invest in index funds. However, since I may want to invest in stocks (small and mid-cap), I wasn't sure as to where I should open a Roth IRA for this aspect.

Also, what is the difference in having a CD and a CD within an IRA?
