Thanks for the clarification. The convenience of Treasury Direct is appealing. I'll have to see if I'd be able to link my Scottrade account. I have a feeling it may be difficult since it's not just a standard account plus routing number like bank accounts.

Thanks also to Lokicoius for the “planning starters” and book recommends. A friend of mine also recommended “A Random Walk Down Wall Street” I'll give it a read.

You're right about my financial goals being a little complicated right now. I have 18 months left in the Navy, then college…kids?...house?...travel?, etc, etc… School is the only certainty at this point. (I gotta catch up to my wife who's now working on her MA :P)
