Thanks, OldToad, for your reply. I will check out the tax liability both ways, as you suggested, before I make a decision.

If I do decide to file the return with the earned income reported; do you have any suggestions as to how best to document babysitting income (for IRS audit purposes). Unfortuately, we do not have good extemporaneous records.
