Thanks. Renting out would require management and a lot of extra time, which I just don't have. I barely have enough time to keep up with the repairs in my primary residence, and I'm not a handyman, so I don't think it's a good fit for me. I don't expect to ever have any heirs, so I'm not concerned about the taxes after I die. And even when I have another domestic partner, I'm afraid the tax treatment for same-sex couples may not be favorable to the survivor. At least it isn't now, but that hopefully will change in my lifetime.
